POLICIES

Registration Fee

Full Year Students are asked to pay a registration fee of $60 per student or $100 per family when they register. This fee is non-refundable and reserves their priority in the schedule for the fall (schedules are finalized in mid August).

This fee also covers the costs of recitals, studio challenges, piano parties, music resources and the lending library.

Students who take a 10 week term have the registration fee incorporated into the total cost of the 10 weeks.

Books and Materials

Full Year Students can either purchase all their own music for lessons, or they can add the $40 per student per year Book Fee to their first month payment, and the teacher will supply all of the books they need.(Book costs can vary between $20-80 per year).

The teacher will provide the Full Year students with the printed resources for all exercises and studio challenges.

Students who take a 10 week term have the books included in the lesson cost.

Instrument Required

  • Students are expected to have access to a metronome.

  • Acoustic pianos should be well maintained and routinely tuned and have a piano bench.

  • Digital pianos should have a proper height adjustable bench and stand, as well as a sustain pedal.

  • If you need help acquiring a suitable instrument, or if you aren’t sure if your instrument is appropriate, please let me know so I may be of assistance.

Public Health Measures

  • Hand washing before lessons is required.

  • The teacher is willing to wear a mask for in person lessons if you wish and will if she is under the weather.

  • DO NOT SEND A SICK STUDENT TO THE STUDIO.

  • Lessons can be done online.

Practice

Students are expected to be prepared for their lessons and to have made progress on all parts of the assigned work. This requires a commitment to consistent daily practice. Parents should ensure that children practice at least 5 days each week.

Detailed expectations will be communicated to the student in the lesson and via each student’s Google Classroom and as long as the student meets those expectations by the next lesson there is flexibility as to how much time is invested. For students who are young or who forget what has been assigned, parents are encouraged to sit nearby so they can hear and take note of what the expectations are.
